We’re in Your Corner

A cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming. You don’t have to navigate it alone. Having someone you can call who understands your diagnosis and offers support is vital. Call us today to get started.

How It Works

You can lean on an expert who understands how to navigate a diagnosis. Here’s how to get our help.

  • Call us to connect with your Oncology Nurse Navigator and get the process started.
  • Talk to your dedicated Lantern Oncology Nurse Navigator about your diagnosis and review your treatment plan with them. You can also tell them about the roadblocks you face and the concerns you have.
  • Let your Oncology Nurse Navigator review your treatment plan with you and facilitate referrals for a second opinion if appropriate. They can also help you get appointments faster.

Remember, Lantern isn’t part of your insurance. Your Oncology Nurse Navigator is here to be an advocate for you.

How It Works

You Have a Nurse
in Your Pocket

An Oncology Nurse Navigator is a skilled nurse who guides you through every step of your cancer journey— from treatment to survivorship and beyond.

Your Oncology Nurse Navigator is here to:

  • Answer your questions about your diagnosis
  • Help you manage your symptoms and side effects
  • Connect you with community resources
  • Offer you support and compassion when you need to talk

“People who are on chemotherapy think that they need to be sick, but that’s just not true. You don’t have to do that. We’re here to empower you to have those conversations with your doctor. We want you to know what to expect, so that you can make better decisions about your own care.”

Emily Wentz RN, BSN, CCM, OCN, Director of Case Management

Your Advocates When
You Need Care

The sooner you can start the treatment that’s best for you, the sooner you’ll be able to focus on healing. That’s where your Oncology Nurse Navigator can help. We aren’t part of your insurance plan. Your Oncology Nurse Navigator is here to advocate for you. We can:

  • Help you get treatment faster at local and national cancer centers if you don’t have a provider already
  • Help you make appointments at hospitals and treatment centers in your medical plan’s network
  • Work with your insurance for treatment approvals, if appropriate
  • Ensure your treatment plan meets the best standards for care
  • Help you understand and use your travel benefits, if applicable

“We pride ourselves on having a way to get patients to appointments as quickly as possible at high-quality locations. Our Accelerated Access Network is a group of providers or health systems where we can get patients to appointments quickly.”

Nicki MacManus SVP and General Manager for Lantern

Taking a Closer Look
at Your Health

After a cancer diagnosis, ensuring your treatment plan meets all the latest guidelines is essential to getting the proper care. Your Oncology Nurse Navigator will:

  • Review your treatment plan to ensure it meets established best practice guidelines
  • Answer any questions you have about your treatment plan
  • Answer your questions about medications and side effects
  • Help facilitate an appointment for a second opinion with a specialist in your medical plan’s network or virtually if appropriate

“When we review treatment plans, we want to ensure patients receive evidence-based treatment. We use the National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines. Oncologists around the country utilize this as the evidence-based best practice for each diagnosis and stage. That’s what we strongly believe patients should be treated on.”

Emily Wentz RN, BSN, CCM, OCN, Director of Case Management

Claudia McClanahan

Claudia, an Oncology Nurse Navigator RN, BSN, OCN, an Oncology Case Manager with Lantern, has more than 12 years of experience as a bedside nurse. She finds the most rewarding part of her role in the deep connections she builds with members. She values the special bond formed through supporting members during their toughest times and celebrating their triumphs.

The members get 30 or 45 minutes with the doctor, but they might have questions about a medication or procedure. Our members don’t have to feel intimidated calling the doctor or the nurse. They don’t have to worry that they won’t get an answer back.

Our Members Love Lantern

“Claudia was amazing. She got everything going and really helped to facilitate my treatment. It’s such a nice feeling having that extra support system—it alleviates some of our stressors."
